Fruits and vegetables form the foundation of a clean eating lifestyle, a.k.a. as a plant based diet. These are whole foods that can be eaten with very little preparation. In addition, they’re loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients yet to be discovered.
One tip to maximize nutrient density is to prepare them in a way to keep the nutrients alive. This can look like steaming broccoli vs boiling it, baking nuts for a short period of time to release their healthy fats, and eating certain foods raw.
Purchasing organic is not always necessary. Get my free download here on the Clean 15 and the Dirty dozen. I use this list when I go grocery shopping and keep it on my phone for easy access.
Plants and fruits that have thick skin do not need to be organic. I recommend that you wash all veggies and fruits right before eating them using a product called “Basic H” (you can find a link on my “wellness” page) This will safely remove pesticides, herbicides and chemicals found on foods.
